Just as the recent storm hit the north-west the night before, City blew United aside at the Etihad Stadium. It was a statement 3-0 win for the City coach's side thanks to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a performance that truly announced their championship potential as they reinforced their place at the WSL pinnacle.

Consecutive Setbacks for United

This outcome marked successive Women's Super League defeats for Marc Skinner’s side for the initial occasion since last May, placing them a significant margin off the league leaders with their trophy ambitions hanging by a thread.
